It is said that Oyamazuminomikoto, in grief over the death of his daughter, Princess Iwanaga, arrived at Sae, and that the burial mound at Sae is the tomb of Oyamazuminomikoto.
The annual festival is held on the first Saturday of every December and attracts worshippers from all over the prefecture and beyond.
